  • Credit Unions are not-for-profit institutions and are owned by the people they serve, not by a few shareholders.
  • More monopoly money is printed annually than real money. The Parker Bros. print $30 billion in monopoly money while the U.S. prints only $974 million every year.
  • Inventor John Shepherd-Barron dreamed up the concept for the first ATM while in the bathtub during the 1960’s.
  • The U.S. Secret Service was originally created July 5, 1865, during the Civil war to fight counterfeiting. By the end of the Civil war anywhere from 1/3 to ½ of the money in circulation was counterfeit.
  • The Lincoln penny is the only coin in which the figure faces right.
  • The bird pictured on the silver dollar was a real bird named Peter. From 1830-1836 he was used as the model bird found on the coin. He is now on display in the lobby of the U.S. mint.
